The Berry Business Forum (BBF), a specialised conference that focuses on the emerging fresh berry industry in Serbia, the region, and the world, was organised for the third consecutive year by Agro Belgrade, with support from the Ministry of Agriculture and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Serbia. During the 2021 BBF the first day was reserved for the conference, where participants were able to learn about the latest and emerging market trends, new technologies, climate change, and finance. On the second day, time was dedicated to practical knowledge exchange and field visits to modern berry orchards, according to the BBF website.
The forum allowed participants to exchange experiences, learn, and discuss topics of interest. Topics discussed included plant breeder’s rights and the importance of healthy certified planting materials. The conference also marked the final event of the Netherlands soft fruit solutions project implemented in Serbia over the last three years. Koen van Ginneken, Regional Agriculture Counsellor of the Embassy of the Netherlands, highlighted the importance of agriculture in bilateral cooperation between Serbia and the Netherlands, and the berry sector as a prime example. Both sides believe that by joining forces, the immense potential of the Serbian berry sector can be unlocked.
