Republika Srpska President Throws Tantrum At Opposition Journalist

2023/11/23
in Politics

Milorad Dodik lost his cool with a prominent Serbian journalist, Snezana Mitrović, who reports for N1 television.
Dodik reacted aggressively to Mitrović’s question about his connections to individuals arrested in a drug trafficking operation. At the press conference, Dodik accused her of lying and actively seeking to destroy Republika Srpska. He then threatened the N1 team, claiming that. For their ‘Anti-Serbian’ narrative, he had agents who followed Mitrović.
Mitrović later received a personal phone call from Dodik, where he insulted her again and used curse words. The organisations condemn Dodik’s behaviour, which has continued for years, labelling critical journalists as traitors and enemies of the state. The BH Journalists Association is considering legal options, including a criminal report and is MFRR calls on Dodik to apologise publicly and commit to conducting future communication with journalists in a professional manner.
The situation highlights the ongoing issue of censorship and harassment of journalists in Republika Srpska.
