Bosnian President Milorad Dodik is expected to force Republika Srpska’s secession from Bosnia & Herzegovina within one or two years, according to MP Zlatko Miletic. Dodik has recently taken steps towards rejecting the authority of the state-level constitutional court and the international community’s high representative Christian Schmidt. He sees himself as the first president of independent Republika Srpska in 2030 and looks to Putin for moral support.
Miletic believes that Dodik will attempt to force the secession within one or two years, based on all indicators. He warns the coalition of Bosniak parties Troika before the formation of the state-level government about his party’s intentions, including derogating state institutions and authorities, frequent visits to Russian President Vladimir Putin, and making citizens hostages of his politics. Miletic also does not expect a military conflict as the international community would not allow it.
However, he does not believe that the Bosnian state will collapse, as there are people who are paid to stop such activities and Nato forces will come to the rescue. He expects Dodik to end up in prison.
Bosnian MPs have written to the US and EU officials, stating that the threat of terrorism in Bosnia is rising due to anti-constitutional, secessionist, and retrograde policies promoted by the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), led by Dodik. They warn that Dodik and his party have intensified activities that undermine the Dayton agreement, provoking constant crises and blockades, while insulting pro-state political forces and representatives of the international community.
