The Czech Republic welcomed over 5.7 million visitors during the second quarter of 2023, including the period between April and June. VisitCzechia reported a 32 per cent increase in foreign tourists, with Germany, Slovakia, and Poland leading the list. The average length of stay for these tourists within the Czech Republic was 3.4 days. Prague emerged as the leading destination, followed by South Moravia and South Bohemia.
In the second quarter of 2023, 58,864 Dutch tourists travelled to the Czech Republic, representing a significant increase of 7,300 tourists compared to the same period a year ago. The month of June proved particularly successful, with 21,000 Dutch people visiting the Czech capital. 68% of all Dutch tourists have visited Prague, attributed to good flight connections from Amsterdam Schiphol (KLM and Easyjet) and Eindhoven (Transavia). The average length of stay for Dutch visitors was 3.5 days, slightly exceeding the overall average of 3.4 days.
Belgium also saw an increase in visitors, with 23,215 Belgian tourists registered in the second quarter of 2023. However, this figure remains slightly below pre-COVID levels. 69% of Belgian tourists were attracted by the allure of Prague, which remained the main destination.
In the second quarter of 2023, over 82,000 tourists from the Netherlands and Belgium chose the Czech Republic as their holiday destination, reflecting a 15.4% increase compared to the figures recorded last year. The Czech Statistical Office reported a 70.9 per cent increase in tourists at collective accommodation establishments in 2022, with 50.6 million overnight stays, marking a growth of 58.6%.
