The number of ICT industry offers in Poland decreased by up to 43% in the first half of 2023, with the crisis originating from abroad. The Polish IT industry relies heavily on orders from other countries, with almost 80% of the workforce susceptible to global trends. Only a few domestic software companies build their products in Poland or provide IT support to Polish companies. Salaries have been cut in half, with some Java programmers facing salary cuts of up to 30,000 – 40,000 PLN per month. The global market is becoming increasingly budget-conscious, with companies paying more attention to every Euro and zloty. The rise of chat-based AI has led to concerns about programmers being displaced from work, as it can speed up the software development process by up to 20-30%. AI will make it unnecessary to hire expensive programming services for some tasks, but demand for software technologies will continue to increase, moving towards narrow specialisations.
