in Agriculture

As Ukraine report 300,000 tonnes of grain lost through six civilian ships and 150 port and grain facilities hit by Russia, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan says Turkey has helped prevent a global food crisis by exporting Ukrainian grain to international markets via the Black Sea.
Speaking on World Food Day, October 16, Erdogan said that “With the Black Sea (grain) initiative initiated together with the UN, we prevented the danger of a global hunger crisis by ensuring that 33 million tons of grain products were shipped to world markets.”
Turkey is among the most generous countries in terms of development aid and will continue to address food and water crises as, According to the Food and Agriculture Organization, one in every nine people in the world is struggling with hunger. World Food Day aims to address the theme „Water is Life, Water is Food. Leave No One Behind.” Erdogan emphasised the importance of protecting water and homeland, stating that protecting water and homeland is the same as protecting the homeland. He urged his colleagues to take the initiative towards the goal of „zero food loss,” a component of the Zero Waste project initiated by Turkish first lady Emine Erdogan and turned into a global movement under the UN umbrella.
