Rafał Trzaskowski, the candidate of the ruling party, and Karol Nawrocki, the candidate of the largest opposition party, will face off in the second round of the presidential elections — according to exit poll results conducted by the largest Polish television networks. According to the poll, Trzaskowski won the first round with 30.8 percent of the vote. The difference between first and second place is just 1.7 percentage points.
Trzaskowski came in first in the first round, beating Nawrocki by only 1.7 points. In third place was Sławomir Mentzen, who received 15.4 percent of the vote. Grzegorz Braun came fourth with 6.2 percent of the votes.
Fifth place went to Adrian Zandberg, the leader of the Razem party, who was supported by 5.2 percent of voters.
In the second round, the two candidates who received the most votes in the first round will compete. The winner will, of course, be the one who receives more votes in the second round. The voting takes place at the same polling stations as in the first round, and eligible citizens can cast their votes between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. — in two weeks, on June 1st.
The result of the second round will determine who becomes the next President of the Republic of Poland for a five-year term.
