The Estonian parliament’s foreign affairs committee chair Marko Mihkelson and his counterparts from Latvia, Lithuania, and Israel have issued a joint statement condemning Hamas’ acts of terrorism against Israel and its citizens.
Gathering at Tallinn, the committees called on the international community to warn axis countries, Iran, Syria, Lebanon, and Hezbollah to avoid participating in the war and to designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organisation. They also express concern over Iran’s nuclear program and lack of transparency with the International Atomic Energy Agency. The committees urge the international community to unite in a coordinated effort to avert the impending threat of an unchecked, nuclear-armed Islamic Republic.
„We are firmly united in our conviction that Iran represents a grave global threat, not only as a leading purveyor of terrorism but also as a relentless underminer of stability in both the Middle East and the wider global arena. We call on the international community to take coordinated action to further isolate Iran with severe sanctions,” read one section of the statement.
They also express concern over the growing collaboration between Russia and Iran in Ukraine and deepening contacts with Hamas, which they believe poses a profound threat to Israel, the Middle East, and Europe. The committees affirmed their unwavering support for the Ukrainian people and stand resolute in their commitment to assisting Ukraine.
The statement was signed by chairman of the foreign affairs committee of the Saeima of Latvia, chairman of the committee on foreign affairs of the Seimas of Lithuania, and chairman of the foreign affairs and defence committee of the Knesset.
