Croatia is expanding its winter flight schedule, establishing direct links with 28 countries, including Germany, Poland, Austria, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. The country also forges direct connections to destinations beyond Europe, including the United Arab Emirates and Qatar. Director of the Croatian National Tourist Board, Kristjan Staničić, is excited about the expansion, stating that more than 150 unique airline routes are expected this winter season, compared to 118 in the same period last year. Staničić emphasises the importance of air connectivity for Croatian tourism, stating that by introducing new airlines and increasing the number of direct flights covering major European capitals, Croatia makes its destinations closer and more attractive to numerous guests.
Key foreign cities fostering Croatia’s strengthened aerial bonds include Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna, Amsterdam, and London, which are slated to offer direct links to 69 international destinations to Croatian travellers throughout the entire winter flying season. Zagreb Airport leads with 65% of total air operations, followed by Split Airport and Zadar Airport with 12% each. Diversification is the hallmark of this winter’s aviation landscape, with 27 different carriers contributing to the rich tapestry of flights to and from Croatia. FlyDubai and Qatar Airways offer direct flights to Dubai and Doha, while Canadian low-cost carrier Air Transat will offer direct flights from Zagreb to Toronto Pearson between May and October next year.
Croatia’s beauty lies in its diverse landscapes, from the stunning Adriatic coastline with crystal-clear waters and charming historic towns like Dubrovnik, to the lush national parks such as Plitvice Lakes. The rich cultural heritage is evident in well-preserved medieval architecture and UNESCO World Heritage sites. Croatia’s natural wonders, combined with its cultural richness, create a unique and enchanting destination for travelers seeking both relaxation and exploration.
