Czechia – On Tuesday, South Korean PM Han Duck-soo arrive in Prague to meet his counterpart Petr Fiala and discuss about investments in Czechia.
It is to be noted that the visit takes place after the state-owned Korean company Korea Hydro Nuclear Power (KHNP) offered to build a nuclear power station in Czechia.
Meantime, Czechia is also looking for investments from South Korea to developp battery production industry.
“Prime Minister [Petr] Fiala and I highly appreciated that trade and investment between the two countries have been more active despite the global economic slowdown and unstable supply chain, and we agreed to further deepening bilateral cooperation in various sectors, including electric vehicles, energy, infrastructure, and defense,” said South Korea’s Prime Minister Han Duck-soo.
“As a driving force for future growth, the two countries decided to continue to seek ways to diversify cooperation into clean energy such as hydrogen and future high-tech industries such as Small Modular Reactor,” he further added.
Czechia, like other V4 countries, namely Poland, Slovakia and Hungary, is in favour of nuclear energy, considering it is a carbon-free energy.
Beyond the discussions about investments, the two Prime Ministers also discussed academia, rail transport, and even assistance to Ukraine in its struggle against Russian aggression.
Polish media TVP World reports that the two Prime Ministers also expressed their concern over North Korea’s incessant provocations. Speaking at a joint press conference after their meeting, the two leaders said that North Korea’s aggression merits a strong response from the international community.
