Lithuania’s President Gitanas Nauseda met with Australian Governor-General David Hurley in Canberra to discuss cooperation between the two countries, the partnership between Australia and NATO, and support for Ukraine.
Nauseda emphasised the importance of uniting the world for Ukraine’s victory, as it will deter potential aggressors from following Russia’s precedent. He invited Australia to join projects on Ukraine’s reconstruction and Lithuania’s initiative to create a mine clearance coalition. The meeting also discussed the partnership between NATO and the Indo-Pacific region, which strengthens global security and the rules-based international order. Nauseda emphasised the importance of cooperation in building resilient supply chains for key technologies and materials. He also highlighted the potential for investment and trade in life sciences, financial technologies, and defence industries. Nauseda visited Australia on October 17-20 and met with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Governor-General David Hurley, regional chiefs, and Lithuanian diaspora representatives.
„The entire free world has to stand together for Ukraine’s victory. Only such a victory will deter other potential aggressors in the world from being tempted to follow the precedent set by Russia,” Nauseda said.
