Malta’s Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade, led by Ian Borg, has announced the hosting of a peace summit to foster comprehensive, equitable, and enduring peace in the region.
“Malta supports the Ukrainian cause by taking a principled position at various multilateral fora and also by providing humanitarian aid and assistance. Next week’s hosting of the peace formula talks in Malta is the most concrete support that a country like Malta can provide for keeping the Ukrainian cause high on the international agenda,” he said.
The Ministry supports Ukraine through bilateral and international collaborations. The goal is to maintain a high international agenda for the Ukrainian cause. The talks will build on the work initiated in Copenhagen in June 2023 and continued in Jeddah in August 2023. The Ministry will continue diplomatic outreach efforts to support Ukraine’s peace efforts within internationally recognised borders. They aim to secure international backing for President Zelensky’s Peace Formula, which was presented to the G20 in November 2022. The talks aim to advance broader international support for Ukraine’s peace initiatives, leading up to the anticipated Global Peace Summit.
