Lithuanian Railways Group’s LTG Link has announced the start of the Vilnius-Riga rail link on December 27, with the possibility of modifications. The service will stop at key locations including Vilnius, Kaišiadorys, Šiauliai, Joniškis, Jelgava, and Riga. The company’s vice-minister of transport and communications, Loreta Maskaliovienė, expressed optimism about the decision and hoped for future enhancements.
The Rail Baltica railway line is expected to expedite travel to neighbouring regions and enhance passenger comfort. LTG Link is currently preparing for the route by securing railway utilisation from Latvia and applying for permits from Latvian and European authorities. The Lithuanian Airports Branch launched the summer air season in March, introducing over 80 scheduled direct routes for passengers departing from Lithuanian airports. The expanded summer air season will provide over eighty direct flight options and charter flights concurrently. Lithuanian airports have also been among the first in the EU to finalise preparations for the new EU Entry/Exit System (EES).
