Oil Deliveries via the Druzhba Pipeline to Hungary Temporarily Suspended

2025/03/12
in Infrastructures

Oil deliveries through the Druzhba pipeline to Hungary have been temporarily suspended following a drone attack on a metering station in Ukraine, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó announced in a video posted on social media on Tuesday.

Szijjártó stated that it is likely oil deliveries could be restored later on Tuesday.

The Druzhba pipeline continues to transport Russian oil to several Central European countries. A previous drone attack had also briefly disrupted oil flow. According to the Hungarian foreign minister, operations are expected to resume soon.

On Monday (March 10), the Czech news portal iDNES.cz reported that the Czech oil refinery Orlen Unipetrol has begun using oil from state reserves, which was pledged by the Czech government in response to the supply disruption via the Druzhba pipeline.

Last week, Czech Minister of Industry and Trade Lukáš Vlček stated that oil deliveries to the country via the Druzhba pipeline were halted due to outstanding debts between Orlen Unipetrol and Russian suppliers.
