Tusk’s Radical Announcement on Migration: It’s About the Right to Asylum
During the Civic Coalition convention in Warsaw, Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that the new migration strategy would include a „temporary territorial suspension of the right to asylum.” He declared, „The government will not implement European ideas that threaten Poland’s security, such as the migration pact.”
Speaking at the convention, Prime Minister Tusk emphasized that „the state must regain 100% control over who enters and leaves Poland.”
The Prime Minister added that the migration strategy is prepared and will be called „Regain Control, Ensure Security.” He announced that he would present it at the government meeting on October 15.

How this right to asylum is being used completely contrary to its essence.”
Tusk assured that his government would not „respect or implement European ideas that threaten Poland’s security, like the EU migration pact.” He emphasized that even if he faces opposition, he plans to be absolutely firm and ruthless in enforcing migration policy. „We will not respect or implement any European, EU ideas if we are certain that they threaten our security,” he stated.
Tusk on the „Wave of Illegal Migration That Flooded Poland” According to Tusk, the result of migration policy under PiS leadership was that „a wave of illegal migration flooded Poland.” He promised, „We will minimize illegal migration in Poland, we will eradicate practices that bypassed Polish interests, that violated the security of Poles and the Polish state. We will eliminate these practices entirely,” the Prime Minister pledged.
