President Andrzej Duda held a meeting on Wednesday with the ambassadors, Ministry of Foreign Affairs representatives, and international relations experts of the Three Seas Initiative. The meeting discussed issues related to next year’s Three Seas Initiative Summit in Vilnius and current Polish engagement in the format. The initiative aims to stimulate economic development in Central and Eastern European countries and establish a stable partnership between the Baltic Sea, Adriatic Sea, and Black Sea. It was born out of a shared interest in developing transport, energy and digital infrastructure connections on the EU’s north-south axis and brings together 13 partners: Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Hungary.
The 3SI aims to facilitate connections that are trusted, sustainable and inclusive and thus strengthen EU cohesion and enrich transatlantic links. 3SI aims to scale up region’s excellence EU-wide and globally and its partners – the United States, Germany, and the European Commission – are closely involved in this process.
