The bi-annual Iron Spear competition, held at Adazi military base in Latvia, brings together the Enhanced Forward Presence (eFP) Battle Groups of NATO member countries every six months.
Spain has been recognised for its outstanding performance in Latvia, placing first and second in the battle tank competition and third among the combat vehicles among 30 teams. The Defense Staff has announced Spain’s outstanding role in Latvia, consolidating its proven image of efficiency and power against its allies.
Armoured crews from across the Alliance gathered in Ādaži, Latvia, to showcase NATO’s might during the biennial Iron Spear competition. This year, soldiers from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States participated in the main battle tank and infantry fighting vehicle competitions. NATO aims to highlight the benefits of the Iron Spear, as it assures the Baltic States that they are serious about defending their sovereign territory and prevents potential enemies.
The development of the war in Ukraine has given special meaning to the words of British Army Lieutenant Adain Glenister, commander of the armoured infantry platoon of the 1st British Rifles.
