Chinese automotive supplier Techron plans to open its first manufacturing facility outside China in Serbia on 18 November, adding a new production site intended to serve European vehicle manufacturers.
The initial investment in Inđija, in northern Serbia, is valued at €20 million. The approximately 4,500-square-metre facility will manufacture injection-moulded components for electric vehicles, with the first European deliveries expected towards the end of February 2027.
Reporting published on 21–22 October places the factory in the final stages of construction. The distinction between the opening ceremony and the start of customer deliveries is significant: November marks the planned inauguration, while commercial shipments are scheduled several months later. Serbian newspaper Dnevnik reported that municipal officials and company representatives had discussed completion of the plant, infrastructure requirements and further investment. The first building includes manufacturing, storage and office space.
Company representatives described a three-phase development programme. They cited Serbia’s location and the experience of local automotive and plastics specialists as reasons for selecting the country as a base for European operations.
Those statements explain the company’s investment rationale, but the subsequent phases remain expansion plans. The opening announcement does not establish that all planned buildings or production lines have been financed and completed. dnevnik.rs
Employment expectations also require qualification. Local outlet IN Medija recalled that earlier announcements envisaged approximately 65 workers initially and 200 once the final development phase was reached.
However, the latest municipal statement did not specify how many people would work at the plant when production began or when recruitment would open. The figure of 200 should therefore be understood as a longer-term target, rather than the number of jobs already created.
IN Medija also noted that, when the investment was announced in September 2025, the opening had been envisaged for mid-2026. The newly announced November date represents a later timetable. IN Medija
The project illustrates the cross-border structure of automotive manufacturing: a Chinese supplier is establishing production in Serbia to reach customers elsewhere in Europe. Local officials have identified Volkswagen as a destination for the plant’s output. SeeNews
For Inđija, the immediate economic test will be the transition from completed premises to regular production, recruitment and exports. The November ceremony will be an important milestone, but the scheduled first deliveries in February will provide a clearer indication of how quickly the investment is becoming an operating business.
